New messaging released on service agreements for home care recipients transitioning to Support at Home

The Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has released key messaging to guide Home Care Package recipients as they prepare to transition to the new Support at Home program, commencing 1 November 2025.

This messaging outlines important information about service agreements, which recipients will need to review and sign as part of the transition. Recipients are encouraged to take the time to understand the service agreement, including service details, pricing, and their individual contribution rates, which will be advised by Services Australia in November.

Importantly, services will continue even if recipients choose to wait for their contribution advice before signing. The messaging also clarifies that providers cannot cease services simply because an agreement has not been signed, and outlines the limited circumstances under which services may be ended.

To support this transition, the Department is also sending out letters and checklists to all Home Care Package recipients to help them prepare for the move.
